How to create webhook URL with Workflows app?

Due to the upcoming retirement of Incoming Webhook connectors in Microsoft Teams, you must use the Workflows Microsoft Teams app to generate webhook URLs to receive notifications in Microsoft Teams channels.

Generate Workflows webhook URL for a Microsoft Teams channel

If the Workflows app has not been added to your Microsoft Teams organization, find it in the Apps section (or follow the link) and click on Add.

Generate the Webhook URL

To generate a webhook URL in Microsoft Teams, follow these steps:

  1. Open Microsoft Teams and navigate to the channel where you want to receive notifications.

  2. Click the three dots menu (...) in the top right corner of the channel and select Workflows from the dropdown menu.

    Alternatively, you can select Workflows from the three dots menu next to the channel name in the Teams and Channels list.

  3. In the Workflows window, search for the template Send webhook alerts to a channel and select it.

    Alternatively, you can select the Send webhook alerts to a channel template from the available templates list.

  1. Select the channel you want to create the workflow for. This should automatically populate with the channel where you started the process.

  2. Click Save to create the workflow.

  3. Click Copy webhook link to copy the webhook URL required for configuring notifications.

Optional Configuration

  • Click the pencil icon next to Send webhook alerts to 'channel name' to rename the workflow.

  • You can also add additional co-owners to allow other users to manage the workflow.

Once finished, click X in the top-right corner to close the Workflows window and return to your Teams channel.

If the workflow is deleted or disabled, notifications will stop being delivered to the channel.
