GitHub links

Troubleshooting

Likely cause: The URL format is not supported, or the link is inside a code block.

Steps to resolve:

  • Ensure the URL is a supported GitHub link type - check the Supported Link Types table.

  • Links inside Jira code blocks are not scanned. Move the URL to plain text in the description or a comment.

  • Check that the URL is not truncated or malformed when pasted.

Likely cause: A transient GitHub API error, rate limit, or an unsupported URL format.

Steps to resolve:

  1. Close and reopen the panel to trigger a fresh data fetch.

  2. Check the GitHub Status page for any active API incidents.

  3. If the issue persists with a valid URL and GitHub is healthy, contact support - see Help & Support.

Likely cause: The GitHub App is not connected in Jira, or the app does not have access to the relevant repository.

Steps to resolve:

  1. Go to Jira Settings then Apps then GitHub Links then GitHub Configuration.

  2. Confirm the page shows a Connected status for the correct organisation.

  3. If connected but still failing, check the GitHub App installation on GitHub (under Settings / Applications on your organisation) and confirm the repository is included under the installed repositories - not filtered out in "Selected repositories" mode.
